GCSE Examination Results

Holyport College is celebrating fantastic results in its second ever set of GCSEs:

  • A third of all results were at Grade 7 or above (the equivalent of As or A*s in the old GCSEs)
  • Students achieved the new Grade 9 in 9% of all the exams they took with 32% of those taking Biology and 25% of those taking Physics achieving a Grade 9
  • 77% of all students achieved at least five pass grades including English and Maths
  • 57% of students secured standard passes in the English Baccalaureate and 49% secured strong passes (with 80% of students being entered for the EBacc)
  • 6% of students achieved six or more Grade 9s (including our top performing student, Amy Hussein, who achieved eight 9s and two 8s) and 30% of students achieved at least one Grade 9

Acting Head Master, Ben McCarey, said:

We are delighted with the achievements of all of our students this year: those who achieved the top grades and equally those who gave their all to gain excellent grades at all levels. This has been a hugely challenging year for any student taking their GCSEs: there have been many uncertainties with the reformed qualifications and this has only added to the stress faced by young people in preparing for these important exams. It is therefore extremely gratifying to see that, despite these uncertainties, students have been rewarded with the grades they deserve for all of their hard work.

These results are testament to their efforts, to the support of their parents and carers and to the tireless work of the whole staff team here at the College. We look forward to welcoming many of these young people back to begin their A Levels with us in September.
