Examination Results

Students at Holyport College were celebrating this morning after another excellent set of GCSE results. In only its third set of GCSE results, students at the College significantly outperformed national averages with 31% of all grades awarded at 7, 8 or 9, and 59% of all students achieving the English Baccalaureate. 80% of students achieved pass grades in both English and Mathematics and 85% of all grades awarded were Grade 4 or above.

Special mention must go to Eric who achieved a clean sweep eleven Grade 9s (something which only 81 students in the country achieved last year). Eric will be returning the the Sixth Form at Holyport College to study Psychology, History, Mathematics and Government and Politics.

Head Master, Ben McCarey, said:

"Education should be about so much more than exam results and we are immensely proud of all our students' achievements over the past five years, academically, artistically, on the sports fields. That said, it was wonderful to see our students getting their results this morning and being rewarded for all of their hard work. It's great to see so many of our students achieving the top grades of 7, 8 and 9 again this year but we are equally delighted for those who gave their all to secure fantastic grades at every level. All students at Holyport College follow a rigorous, academic curriculum all the way through to GCSE regardless of their prior attainment or ability and we are also exceptionally proud that nearly 60% of them achieved the English Baccalaureate with pass grades in English, Mathematics, Science, History or Geography and a Modern Foreign Language.

It was also a pleasure to meet so many bright, articulate and aspirational young people registering for our Sixth Form today. We are delighted to have such a talented cohort joining us and look forward to welcoming you all in September."
