After a tumultuous two years due to the pandemic, our Upper Sixth students opened their A Level results this morning. With 80% of all grades awarded A* to B, there was much cause for celebration after so much uncertainty and upheaval. Head Master, Ben McCarey, said:

“There will be much written about how these grades compare to previous years however, for the young people receiving their results today, these comparisons are meaningless. No cohort of young people has ever had to be more adaptable, resilient or hard working as those who have received their results today and they should be hugely proud of all they have achieved. These results are not only the reward for their exceptional work in the most adverse of circumstances but, more importantly, they are the passport to the next steps of their education. Holyport College Sixth Form was set up to support academically aspirational young people in gaining places on the best courses at the best universities in the country and I’m delighted that we continue to make this a reality for so many young people.

I would also like to pay tribute to the professionalism, dedication and flexibility of the staff team without whom these results would just not have been possible. The manner in which they so quickly adapted to online teaching in March 2020 and continued to develop and improve their practice over the months which followed before creating rigorous yet fair processes for assessment has paved the way for these excellent results and I am extremely grateful to them all for all that they have done.”
