GCSE Results 2021

Our Year 11 students were rightfully celebrating this morning when, after the most challenging two years imaginable, they received their GCSE results. There were some incredible performances from many students with forty percent of students achieving an average grade of 7 or better across all of their GCSEs and nearly ninety percent of students completing the full range of challenging subjects which make up the English Baccalaureate. Some top performers include:

• Martha and Raghu who both achieved Grade 9 in all of their GCSEs (with Martha achieving eleven 9s and Raghu achieving ten)
• Cate who achieved nine 9s and one 8
• Maisie, Isabella and Cara who each achieved seven 9s (with a further six 8s, and four 7s between them)
• Tilly who achieved six 9s, three 8s and one 7
• Deborah, Rebekah and Sade who between them achieved ten 9s, twelve 8s, seven 7s and one 6
• Ollie, Devon and Finlay who all also achieved a clean sweep of grades 7-9 with three 9s, twenty 8s and seven 7s between them

Head Master, Ben McCarey, praised students for their hard work and resilience saying:

“We are absolutely delighted with all that our Year 11 students have achieved during their time with us. These results are a rightful vindication of all of their learning and endeavours and they should be hugely proud of them. This year especially however, these results are about so much more than simply grades. So many of these young people have gone through incredible personal hardships over the past year and half: they have missed out on opportunities, experiences and rites of passage alongside losing friends and family members. Within this cohort of students, there are incredible stories of resilience, of the indomitable power of the human spirit and of the importance of friendship and community. I therefore sincerely hope that these results represent a turning point as we emerge from the deprivations of the pandemic; that they represent a brighter future and, most importantly, that they represent hope. Whether they are returning to Holyport College to complete their A Levels in September or moving on to new opportunities and adventures, I know that this group of young people will be hugely successful in all that they do. I cannot wait to hear about their future successes.”
