Holyport College's Year 11 students are celebrating this morning after receiving a bumper set of GCSE results. This is the first time GCSEs have been awarded by examination since 2019 and it is testament to the hard work and resilience of our students that the results they have achieved are actually better than those achieved by students at the College in 2019 according to many measures. Over 30% of all entries have been awarded Grades 7-9 and an impressive 86% of all entries have been awarded Grades 9-4. 83% of students achieved Grade 4 or above in both English and Maths and the average point score for students at the College is 5.56.

The College's Head, Ben McCarey said:

"After the phenomenal achievements of our A Level students this time last week, it is incredible to be celebrating yet again with Year 11 students. When the pandemic began, these young people had not even chosen their GCSE options. The entirety of their GCSE studies have been undertaken through the prism of COVID and the multitude of restrictions and privations it has placed on their lives and studies. Whether celebrating 9s, 7s, 5s or 3s, they should be deservedly proud of all that they have achieved, both academically but also personally. They are a wonderful group of young people who have pulled together to support one another through incredible adversity and their results are testament to this. Whether they are staying on with us for Sixth Form or moving on to study elsewhere, we wish them all the very best with their futures."

Some of the top performing students include:

•Jhonny: Seven 9s, one 8, two 7s
•Lillian: Six 9s, two 8s, three 7s
•Nye: Seven 9s, four 7s
